2012 : Aharon Appelfeld

  • le personnage et son parcours : entre errance et reconstruction d’identité ;

  • la poétique de l’espace comme vecteur de la narration : géographie réelle et imaginaire, lieux, la forêt, la gare, le café, etc. ;

  • le mécanisme de la mémoire : entre sommeil et réveil, rêves et cauchemars, le langage corporel et le choix linguistique, etc. ;

  • l’autobiographie, la narration de soi et la narration de l’autre ;

Aharon Appelfeld will be eighty years old on 2012. The Jewish boy, born in Bucovina in 1932 has endured the horrors of the Holocaust and has become one of the most famous Israeli authors. With its metaphysical touch, his work immortalizes the contemporary Jewish history in a very particular style.

INALCO (the CERMOM) and the Mémorial de la Shoah (the CDJC), with the Schrieber Chair for Jewish Culture (TAU, Israel), organize an international conference in his honour on March 2012 (the 25, 26 and 27).

Subjects of discussion:

  • The Appelfeldian Protagonist: between wanderring and reconstruction of identity.

  • The Poetics of Space: real and fictitious geography, places such as the forest, the rail road, the coffee house etc.

  • The Mecanism of Memory: sleeping and waking up, dreams and nightmares, body language and linguistic choice etc.

  • Autobiography, Self-narration and the Narration of the Other.

  • Intertextuality, Interculturality and the process of Reading.
